Mavis Chishala

Zambia SBA Lead 

Dr. Mavis Chishala is a Paediatrician heading the department of Paediatrics at Chawama First level hospital. She is part of the Centre for Haematology Research in Zambia (CHREZ), working with other researchers, in partnership with the Ministry of Health to advance Sickle Cell Disease care in Zambia. She graduated with a Master of Medicine in Paediatrics and Child Health from the University of Zambia. She is currently supporting and mentoring health care workers as part of the research activities in the Patient-Centred Sickle Cell Disease Management in Sub-Saharan Africa (PACTS) study, across the sites in Zambia. Mavis actively participates in teaching medical students and her other interests include nutrition and neonatal medicine. She is the Standard Based Audit(SBA) lead for the PACTS project in Zambia. She assists the SBA teams in the development, implementation and evaluation of the standard based audits as well as support implementation of actions.
