Bates

Imelda jointly leads the PACTS group with Prof Obiageli Nnodu. Prof Bates is a practising haematologist, with sickle cell disease experience and over 35 years of public health research in sub-Saharan Africa. She has (co)authored over 200 publications in the science of research capacity strengthening and public health aspects of haematology. Prof Bates will primarily lead and coordinate activities relating to overall management of the Group, ensuring outputs are delivered to the highest quality, on time and within budget.  She will oversee reporting to NIHR and will also provide mentoring for early careers researchers and contribute to strengthening capacity for implementation research among individuals and partners institutions.
