Catherine Chunda-Liyoka is a Consultant Paediatrician; Head Paediatric Haematology Department; and Consultant Paediatric Infectious Disease Department, at the University Teaching Hospitals– Children’s Hospital (UTHs-CH) in Lusaka, Zambia. Clinician providing specialized clinical care to children with complicated haematological and infectious diseases, focusing mainly on Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), Haemophilia, Aplastic anaemia, HIV and Tuberculosis. Honorary Lecturer- University of Zambia (UNZA); Honorary Fellow- Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) -International Public Health; Supervisor. Mentors and Trainer of different cadres of health workers under the Ministry of Health (MOH) - National trainer and mentor in Paediatric SCD, HIV, Infection Prevention and Palliative care. Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI; Program Director (PD); CO-PD of research and training collaborations; Peer reviewer; Research interests are blood disorder, paediatric malignancies, Infectious diseases, public health and implementational research. SCD focal person at the Ministry of Health (MOH); member of the Haemophilia taskforce; National Coordinator for the American Society of Haematology (ASH) newborn screening consortium (CONSA), SPARCO (SHAZ), SPAN, SickleInAfrica, ARISE, PACTS and the Sickle Cell Ontology Network (SCDO); International member of the ASH international member committee (ASH-IMC); Expert member of the Zambian MOH HIV Technical Working Group developing, formulating and reviewing the national HIV guidelines. Served as a Consultant in the formulating of the HIV, cancer and now Haematology national guidelines and strategic plan (SP); the evaluation of the Zambian National Paediatric HIV program; Served as Program Director of a Community Outreach Nutrition Program for children with malnutrition.
